Keep your home in your pocket with Iris
Posted on 10. May, 2013 by hstewart in Cellular Sales, Cellular Sales News, Find a Location
Our world is becoming more and more connected as technology continues to innovate in new and exciting ways. One of the latest trends in consumer
technology is to integrate traditionally connected devices (such as smartphones and tablets) with those which haven’t been networked before (such as TVs or thermostats). Iris is a product which is moving us toward total home integration.
What is Iris?
Iris is a way to connect certain home features to your smartphone, tablet or computer so that you can access these features even when you’re not in the house. It uses your home internet connection to let you control certain aspects of your home, such as your thermostat or alarm system, when you’re away. Did you forget to turn the thermostat down before you went to work? Iris makes that little more than a minor inconvenience.
How can Iris help me?
Well, for one thing, it allows you to control your house’s alarm system and thermostat remotely. Nobody home in the summer time? You can let the house get a few degrees warmer. Iris will also send notifications when people enter or leave your home, so you can know when it’s time to crank the AC.
Since you can control your home alarm, you don’t have to worry about your kids leaving the house without turning on the alarm, or if you had to rush to work in the morning and forgot to activate the alarm, you can do so through Iris.
Another benefit to Iris is cost. Most alarm systems cost $100 or more a month. However, Iris premium service is only $9.99 a month. Those savings can add up. Plus, there’s the potential to save on your utility bills with the thermostat controls.
What do I need for Iris?
You need to purchase an Iris kit from Lowe’s. There are several different packages available that can offer different capabilities. You’ll also need to have a working internet connection, like HomeFusion from Verizon Wireless (visit a Cellular Sales store near you). After that, you just need to do some configuring, following the instructions in the Iris kit, and you should be good to go.
Iris offers a way to control certain aspects of your home and save money at the same time. That’s not a bad combination, is it?
Tennessee Sports Radio, former Vols visit Cellular Sales
Posted on 12. Apr, 2013 by Jay Witherspoon in Cellular Sales, Cellular Sales News, Events
On March 28, Tennessee Sports Radio, a Knoxville sports talk radio station, broadcast a live remote of The Swain Event from Cellular Sales’ Bearden Hill location in Knoxville.
Many former University of Tennessee athletes, who now host shows on TSR, were available to meet fans and sign autographs. Former UT and New York Jets quarterback, Erik Ainge, was even on hand to challenge fans in games of NCAA Football on Xbox 360. In addition to Ainge, Jayson Swain, Chris Treece, Gerald Riggs, Jr., and Steven Pearl all made appearances.
“We had a great time at Cellular Sales,” Ainge said. “The turnout was amazing, and everyone had fun playing video games and learning about all of the awesome products and services from Verizon that Cellular Sales offers.”
It was a fun event for all who participated, as those who came by were able to munch on some delicious food catered by Calhoun’s and pick up a free Tennessee Sports Radio t-shirt. And who doesn’t love a free t-shirt?
“Any time I can hang out, talk to, take pictures with and engage with my fans is time well-spent,” Ainge said. “Cellular Sales gets that. Their entire business model is completely built around taking care of and engaging their customers. This event was another example of how they do things differently, and they do it very well.”
We really enjoyed hosting the guys from Tennessee Sports Radio, and we were glad to be able to bring this kind of event to our customers. It was really fun to get to see people meeting their sports idols for the first time.

Verizon customers will soon be able to enjoy 4G LTE all around the world. In a press conference at the Telecommunications Industry Association last week, Tony Malone, Verizon’s Chief Technology Officer, announced that Verizon Wireless plans to offer global roaming for all its 4G LTE smartphones, tablets and network cards.
“There will absolutely be roaming for 4G LTE devices,” Malone said. “And where 4G LTE isn’t available or it’s not economical to support those LTE frequencies, we’ll allow customers to fall back on 3G HSPA networks.”

Cellular Sales Reaches New Milestones
Posted on 02. Apr, 2012 by dfloyd in Cellular Sales News, Customer Service, Locations of Cellular Sales

This past week Cellular Sales opened our 60th store in North Carolina, our 50th store in Texas, and a new store in Savannah, Georgia. Hard work and loyal customers has helped us reach these new milestones. We work hard to build strong customer relationships because loyal customers help create other loyal customers. This pattern of ongoing growth has helped make Cellular Sales the nation’s largest Verizon Wireless reseller.
“Opening our 60th store in North Carolina is an exciting milestone for us and the entire Cellular Sales team who works hard every day to bring our service model to new areas throughout the country,” said Dane Scism, founder and CEO at Cellular Sales. “Since our first store opened in North Carolina in 1997, we have been committed to our mission of providing the best customer care in the mobile industry.”
In 2005, Cellular Sales opened our first store in Texas. Since then, we’ve experienced tremendous growth and opened 10 new stores in the past year alone. “We continue to experience rising demand for our services and our record expansion across the Texas market illustrates that,” said JT Thome, COO. “Cellular Sales is committed to meeting that demand and we strive to exceed our customers’ expectations as we look forward to continued growth in the future.”
This pattern of continued growth translates into 10 to 15 new store openings every month nationwide and an annual growth rate of 30 percent. Cellular Sales faces the great challenge of continually recruiting talented sales professionals. On any given day, we’re looking for motivated, sales people who want the opportunity to build their own business. We train our team members to focus on customer service as the foundation for a successful business. This focus has paid off. In 18 years, Cellular Sales has grown to over 500 stores with a thriving team of 3800 sales professionals. We hope to open 150 new stores in 2012 alone.

Bringing Cellular Sales Success to Naples
Posted on 07. Mar, 2012 by dfloyd in Cellular Sales News
Cellular Sales has a knack for transforming abandoned buildings into successful businesses. Consider our soon-to-open store in North Naples, Florida. Eckerd Drugs built a nice location beside Walmart for a pharmacy in 2004, but they never moved into the building. Instead, they sold it to CVS. Though it is referred to as “the old CVS building,” CVS never actually occupied the building either. In fact, the building has been sitting dormant for a long time.
Enter Cellular Sales. An authorized retailer of Verizon Wireless products, the Knoxville-based company has over 500 stores nationwide and almost 100 stores in Florida alone. This year, Cellular Sales is planning to open three stores in Naples. The “old CVS building” seemed like a perfect spot. “It’s a really good location. You can see it from every angle in a busy Walmart parking lot,” says Jason Lema, who manages six stores in the Fort Myers-Cape Coral region for Cellular Sales.
Cellular Sales has converted several abandoned spaces like this one into thriving businesses that bring the best in mobile devices and services to an area while also helping stimulate the local economy by creating new jobs. All three new stores coming to Naples plan for success by building strong customer relationships.
“At Cellular Sales, we look out for the customer’s wallet before our own. We want to take care of customers,” Lema said. “We want customers to leave the store happy and refer their neighbors and friends to the location.” The Cellular Sales approach is not focused on a one quick sale, but a potential lifetime of sales by helping customers before and after the sale.
For those living in and around Naples, the new store located at 5410 Immokalee Road should be opening sometime in early April. Keep your eyes open for balloons, banners and a vibrant staff ready to serve.
Building a Sales Business
Posted on 22. Feb, 2012 by dfloyd in Cellular Sales News, Marketing and Advertising
Jason White, an Account Manager for Cellular Sales, found a unique way to promote his business. He contacted local media representatives about appearing on the Fox Morning Blend and ended up doing two different segments. Jason’s initiative opened new doors for his own business while also promoting Cellular Sales in the Fort Myers area.
His resourcefulness offers some excellent insights for anyone trying to build a sales business:
Leveraging Relationships
Jay Abraham once said that one key when building a business is writing a list of every person you know, then listing everyone they might know. Nowadays with Facebook and LinkedIn this ability to discover connections is even better. This list of connections is not merely for potential sales, but to help you see the resources that could help you build your business. According to Jason, “I’m fortunate to have a good relationship with several people in the local media, so I started thinking about how I could utilize those relationships.” Jason ended up calling the local Marketing Manager to set up a meeting to discuss possibilities. Soon he had setup a deal to appear on the Fox Morning Blend.
Generating Sales Ripples
The impact of Jason’s effort is like dropping a stone in a pond: it continues to ripple. Sales success comes in different ways. “I got my first phone call within minutes of the broadcast,” says Jason, “but the majority has come in the days afterwards.” The ripples of impact continue for days after the show. “On the first show, I booked four appointments and that brought in 2 MIFI devices, and a few new lines and upgrades. The day of the broadcast I did over $500 in sales. The second show I got 2 official appointments with 5 new lines and 2 upgrades.”
Establishing Credibility
His efforts continue to help his business, both in sales and instant credibility with new clients. “I’ve turned this into a really good marketing tool for perspective clients and also my current clients. When I tell people that we were featured on Television, it gives us a little more credibility. When I’m filling out a red folder and getting my clients information set up, I’ll write the YouTube address on it so they can see the broadcast. I’ll tell them to pass it along to their friends and family so they can see the material that’s on there.”
Cellular Sales Renovates Downtown Building
Posted on 03. Feb, 2012 by dfloyd in Cellular Sales News
Thanks to the strong relationships with our customers, Cellular Sales continues to expand, enter new communities, and meet new customers. Recently, our team in Culpeper, Virginia enjoyed the opportunity to beautify the community and expand operations at the same time. We renovated a landmark location in downtown Culpeper, transforming the old into the new.
Cellular Sales had operated a store up the highway at Dominion Square Shopping Center since 2009. This location served as a perfect base to start and build the business, but the long term goal was to be in downtown Culpeper. The building that housed Culpeper Motor Corp. for over five decades became available. This outdated and abandoned 3,600 square space looked like a perfect place to invest our time and energy.
“We saw an opportunity here where most people wouldn’t,” explained Jay Vaiksnoras, regional director of Cellular Sales. “This is our commitment to the community.” So the Cellular Sales team stepped up to the plate and invested about $300,000 to renovate the old Culpeper Motor Corp. building. In January, the old building came back to life in a dramatic new form. The Cellular Sales center opened as a hi-tech spot, complete with the latest phones, mobile devices and accessories. “It’s more inviting to the customer,” said Vaiksnoras, adding, “We are here to stay.”
Customers visiting Cellular Sales center will have an opportunity to learn about the iPhone, Android, Blackberry, mobile hotspots and much more. They’ll be seeing an old building with an exciting new look, and staff will be standing by to serve them like an old friend. “Culpeper is a smaller community where people appreciate that little extra touch – that personal service,” said Vaiksnoras.
As a regional hub, the new store will also be looking to add new employees. Already, foot traffic is increasing. The goal is to have 12 people staffing this store. Since Cellular Sales employees average more than $51,000 per year, this will be a nice boost to the local Culpeper economy.
As one of the fastest growing retail companies in the U.S., Cellular Sales is proud to build strong relations in local communities. With 32 locations in Virginia and almost 500 nationwide, Cellular Sales continues growing and thriving at a dramatic pace. As we grow, our longstanding commitment to deliver a rich and satisfying customer experience remains the same.

In honor of her compassion and drive to make a difference, her sister Nancy G. Brinker started the Susan G. Komen race for the Cure. For the past 19 years, thousands and thousands of people have joined the race. Along the way, they’ve raised $1.9 billion dollars in this fight against breast cancer.
On October 22, 2011, Knoxville residents met at the World’s Fair Park to join this historic event, raising awareness and funds in the fight against cancer. The team from Cellular Sales contributed $600 dollars and joining with a host of volunteers they raised $305,723.96 dollars.

Verizon Spectrum Buy = Great News For Customers
Posted on 05. Dec, 2011 by dfloyd in 4G LTE, Cellular Sales News, Wireless Industry
In a brilliant move last week, Verizon Wireless acquired $3.6 billion in spectrum licenses from the cable consortium SpectrumCo (See “Verizon to buy cable spectrum, pressuring rivals“,Reuters, December 2). Spectrum is the frequency in radio and telecommunications where information travels in a wave along an assigned frequency range. Spectrum licenses are vital resources for thriving in the wireless industry.
With this most recent purchase, Verizon outfoxed the competition and positioned the company to better serve customers and potentially expand services to customers, including the option to introduce its full portfolio of cable, phone and wireless services in areas of the country where it doesn’t currently offer broadband.
This is great news for Verizon customers since more spectrum means more capacity.
With 110MHz of spectrum nationwide, the Verizon 4G LTE can continue building out to meet the every growing demand of customers for blazing speed. This move reinforces a long term commitment to supporting and developing its vast network, so that Verizon customers can enjoy the fastest network with the broadest coverage in more and more places. At the same time, Verizon can offer customers more services and content via the companies in SpectrumCo (Comcast, Time Warner, and Bright House Networks).

How do you get ready for the holiday? At Cellular Sales we get ready by opening new stores, bringing on new sales representatives and immersing ourselves in the latest wireless technology. You might say that we’re helping get ready for the holidays in more ways than one. By bringing sales opportunities in cities all across our country, we helping individuals and local economies thrive.
What’s the secret of our success? As the CEO and founder of Cellular Sales, Dane Scism says, “We strive to treat every one of our customers as if they are our only customer, and we always place a great emphasis on quality customer communication.” We don’t simply want customers for the holidays. We want customers who come back again and again because they’ve been treated so well.
At the same time, all our customers enjoy the nation’s largest and most reliable 3G network and the nation’s largest, fastest, and most advanced 4G network. With the explosion of smartphones, our customers and businesses utilize our advanced network for streaming media, email, and an expansive range of possible applications.
Yes, we’re hanging out the greenery and “sprucing” up for the festivities this season, but our consistent customer service and superior network is the same quality customers rely on.
This holiday season is a perfect time for an upgrade or giving a gift. We’re offering all the newly released Android smartphones like HTC Rezound, Droid RAZR, Droid Bionic, and many more. We also have the new Apple iPhone 4S, mobile hotspots, netbooks, wireless headsets and much.
Plus, our local stores will be running a wide range of specials. So be sure to stop in and see your local Cellular Sales representative. If you’re a motivated person with an entrepreneurial spirit, you may want to check our opportunities in your area to see how you can join our “culture that breeds success.”
