CodeStock 2017 is a coder’s Bonnaroo

CodeStock is an annual gathering for self-professed “geeks” to exchange ideas, discuss bleeding-edge web techniques and share best-practice enterprise software development. It’s Mark Zuckerberg meets Steve Jobs meets your IT guy. Hosted in Knoxville, Tenn., CodeStock 2017 happens May 5-6 and features 75 speakers covering 100 different topics. It’s not a trade show peddling products – it’s more of a think-tank experience for sharing knowledge in an industry where an open exchange of information can lead to digital brainstorms and technological breakthroughs. According to Justin Bornhoeft, IT asset manager for CodeStock sponsor Cellular Sales, the software development community in Knoxville is a tight-knit group where everyone gets to know everyone else.  CodeStock is a great way to keep our team sharp by exchanging ideas with other experts.  It is also a great place for other developers to learn about Cellular Sales.

“You want to be the place where people want to work,” said Bornhoeft. “We’ve been building a culture that attracts ideal team players.”

Cellular Sales has been involved with CodeStock since its inception ten years ago. In addition to sponsoring this year’s conference, CS is sending 18 attendees for professional development. These web dev enthusiasts will divide and conquer – attending and presenting at different sessions and then bringing back their collective experience to share internally.

This year CodeStock is partnering with CodeTN and the Knoxville Entrepreneur Center for CodeStock Academy, a day-long coding camp for area high-school students. After a morning of skill-based focused instruction, participants will have hands-on access to advanced computing systems as well as Virtual and Augmented Reality tools.
